All of us want to get rid of our excess body fats, especially at areas where it could become unappealing. So where does our body usually keep the fats? It is said that we cannot control where our body stores fats as it varies from person to person. Your body might be inclined to accumulate fats at a certain area. In general due to hormone differences, women tend to have fats stored in the hips, thighs and buttocks, whereas men tend to have fats at the belly. We can probably try to reduce the amount of fats stored in that particular place, through various active methods.
Let’s take a trip from top to bottom!
Face/ChinFace fats is the hardest to get rid of. It takes a great deal of effort and even intensive exercise will often remove fats from any other parts of the body before the face. You might have heard about the term ‘baby fats’, which refers to chubby fats grown from early childhood. Baby fats are normally lost during puberty and after which ‘real fats’ will remain. Fats usually accumulate near the cheeks and chin. In order to lose face fats, it may help to massage the face regularly, or do some facial stretching by smiling or laughing.
NeckIt seems like this little column between our head and body has the potential to store quite a bit of fats, amounting to what might look like a thick elephant trunk. The fats beneath the thin layer of neck skin is usually soft and sags down, forming what we call a ‘double chin’. For some obese people, it sags so much to the extent of being ‘neckless’. Occasionally, folds can be seen behind the neck and it becomes more obvious when the backhair is short. Doing some neck and chin stretches might probably stimulate fat loss at that area.
ArmsFlabby arms can be bothersome, especially when you are planning to wear sleeveless tops. It is generally unwise the reveal your upper arms unless they are muscular (for guys) or slender (for girls). Other than arm exercises or weights, there seems to be no better solution to get rid of the wobble.
TummyThis is the most ideal place for our body to accumulate fats, and probably where the first trace of fats can be observed if you are gaining weight. On the other hand it is where slimming down would first take place after a workout. However tummy fats can be easily hidden away from sight. Moreover the waistline can be easily monitored by the tightness of pants. Fats in this area should be tackled first before moving to other parts of the body.
The problem of ‘spare tyres’ is often faced by middle age people. Due to the drop in metabolism rate and lack of exercise in working adults, tummy fats will form readily, giving a pear-like body shape. Alcoholics would face an additional growth of a beer belly, thanks to the carbohydrate nature of alcohol. One way to test how much fats there are in your tummy, is to sit right up and see the amount of fats protruding from your waist, or the extent of skin folding.
Achieving well-defined six packs is not easy, when there are layers and layers of fats concealing our abdominal muscles. Wearing slim-fit clothes might not be advisable for those with significant amount of tummy fats. Regular exercise is the best way out after all.
ButtBeing hidden away from our direct view, and even from the mirror, it is not easy to monitor the extent of fats in our butt area. Sitting down too much might be one factor contributing to the growth of buttock fats. Due to our body weight exerted on our butt while sitting down, fold lines and marks can easily form on the skin. It has been observed that some female models, with excellent figure and appearance, reveal an unexpectedly unsightly butt in a swimming suit.
Thigh‘Thunder thighs’ become extremely obvious when minishorts or miniskirts are worn. The thickness of thighs might not necessary be due to fats. People like dancers and athletes often have strong leg muscles that give rise to big thighs. Because of this, slimming down thigh areas can be difficult as muscles can grow while the fats are gotten rid of through exercise.
Of course it is necessary to have some amount of fats in our body. The most important thing is to keep our body in proportion, and when this is achieved, fats will not appear as obvious anymore.
Ever wondered who is the fattest person in the world? Here it is:
