Doomsday is expected to strike on: 21 December 2012
The Mayan Long Count Calendar, which has an amazingly high accuracy, mysteriously ends on 21 December 2012, for the first time in history even since this non-repeating calendar started its run from 11 August 3114 BC of the current Gregorian calendar. The ancient Mayan civilization was said to be very obsessed with timekeeping, and their calendar was even able to accurately predict eclipses thousands of years in the future.
The Chinese classical text, I Ching, uses hexagrams consisting of 6 continuous or broken lines each to predict future outcomes to various questions. When the 64 hexagrams are arranged in timeline graph, where each point is plotted as a ratio of change, it produces a seemingly accurate depiction of world changes that have happened. For example, the bottom vertex is indicative of the fall of the Roman Empire. The graph reaches a peak which represents the discovery of the New World (America). Along the 20th century it starts to dip further, with World Wars I & II, and finally drops to zero exactly at 21 December 2012.
An Internet-based program, Web-Bot, scans the entire online realm and gathers information in words. The subconscious mind of humans can be extracted and interpreted from these word collections, thus producing predictions of the future, as proven by the September 11 attacks and the 2004 Asia tsunami. Another disturbing discovery is that, the disaster factor seems to reach its peak in the year 2012.
With so many forecasts pointing towards the same date, is it really true that our world will meet its end on 21 December 2012? But wait, there is more.
Prophecies given by many oracles and divine agents appear to have similar predictions too. A Greek oracle, who was said to be possessed by the gods, had envisioned the outbreak of wars, defeat of empire as well as the rule of kings by name. She claimed that human existence is divided into a few periods, and the time we are living in now is at the last.
Furthermore, the famous wizard Merlin, who had successfully foreseen the discovery of America and the rise of terrorism, had also prophesied catastrophes befalling at the beginning of the 21st century. In addition, a more familiar source - the Holy Bible – has recorded such apocalyptic omen under its Book of Revelations.
Astronomers too, have concurred to the possibility of unprecedented drastic changes. On 21 December 2012, which falls exactly on the winter solstice (an instant which marks the reversal of lengthening nights and shortening days in non-equatorial countries), the Earth will become exactly aligned with the Sun and the centre of the Milky Way galaxy. This happens only once in 25000 years and nobody knows what change will this galactic alignment bring us.
There are speculations that an unknown planet called Nibiru, which has an odd orbit that approaches the solar system every 3600 years, will return in 2012. The closer it gets, the more its magnetic flux and gravitational field would affect the orbits and axis of the planets in our solar system, thus causing drastic changes to our environment.
Some geologists predicted that the Earth magnetic poles will shift due to the movement of the Earth’s mantle. This phenomenon is known as Pole Shift. Albert Einstein had claimed that the Earth magnetic poles had indeed shifted before back in the past. It was then discovered that the equator had once passed through Alaska, hence the Pole Shift theory is not impossible. Since the world climate, ocean tides, atmosphere and even man-made machines and appliances are all heavily dependent on the magnetic field of Earth, a great calamity will definitely arise if pole shift were to occur within a short span of time, and might result in extinction of living species.
With so many prophecies and predictions converging to similar conclusions on the same date, it might seem like doomsday is really approaching. Here are some resources and videos from the web:
