As all of u guys know, I went for the outfield training exercise from last Sunday to Tuesday. So typing a blog entry about my outfield experience.
This outfield exercise is called Exercise Voyager, for mi, I am situated at Pasir Laba. My job as a technician support is to make sure that all the comet vehicles that I am trained in are working properly and are serviceable. Basically that’s that, if nothing breaks down for the whole of the exercise, we basically have nothing to do.
The 1st day was relatively peaceful though the trip to Pasir Laba was quite uncomfortable due to the fact that the benches on the 5 ton vehicle (the army “lorry” like vehicle that transport people or stores around) are really hard. Plus the road is very rocky and uneven so the whole trip is very bumpy too. The 1st day was a Sunday so even though like none of the vehicles are broken down. There is still this feeling of what am I doing here, coz it’s a Sunday lor, its weekends and I miss my Project Superstar Finals becoz of this exercise lar. So morale abit low. Thanks to Xinying and Wenya again for keeping mi updated on the latest development of Project Superstar.
Things started to go wrong on the 2nd day, but these were just minor faults and could be fixed quite easily so not much problems. After having combat rations (which really doesn’t taste that nice), I decided to open my pack of biscuits and my instant cup noodles that I brought and I had been relying on all that for the energy and nutrition that I receive for the 2nd day. At night, the mosquitoes in the area are really really scary. My gosh. They keep attacking us and sucking all our blood. Even though I pull down my uniform to long sleeve, they also never give up, keep attacking my palm and fingers. When in the morning, I wake up right, my palm is filled with mosquitoes’ bites. Its not like one or two spots lor, it’s the whole hand. Like kena chicken’s pox like that lor. Haha.
The 3rd day is the day where everything seems to go wrong. Lots of vehicles brought down simultaneously, we need to fix and repair all this vehicles to the standard such that these vehicles would be able to make their way back to Seletar Camp. Its was such a busy day for us lar. We were so occupied with work that I had eaten barely anything from morning till about 6pm evening.
At about afternoon like that, we managed to finish all the vehicles and made our way happily back to camp thinking that everything is finally over. But to our shock, one of the vehicles suddenly stop halfway in the expressway near NTU. Initially, everyone assume that some thing is not tighten properly in the vehicle and it came out. It turned out that I was he last person to tighten the thing. Having history of this kinda thing that happen to mi aka things not tighten properly, I was really really afraid and nervous about the whole situation, I thought I would be in deep shit. Plus the symptoms of the vehicle also leads people to thinking that the thing is not tighten properly. The vehicle followed by our 5 ton and a few army vehicles was parked beside the expressway as a result. We have to wait for further assistance, we waited until like peak hours came. The traffic starts pouring in, and soon, we have created a traffic jam. The traffic police were called in to handle the situation and the Chief of Army was informed of the situation resulting in 4 majors coming down to look at the situation, all these makes mi even more nervous. Coz if it really turns out that the thing is not tighten, I think I will be scolded by lots of people. I felt so guilty.
When they found out the root of the problem, some of them rushed to tell mi that the thing that they suspected was sitting properly inside the vehicle and didn’t came out at all. I was so relived. Felt like one big and heavy rock was lifted of my shoulders. Haha.
Thank you God, for answering to my prayers, I know its you who did all the miracles. Amen.
It was quite an experience though. But if u want mi to go outfield again in the near future, I will say no!!! Haha. And pls don’t let mi suffer from this kinda shock again in the near future. Haha.
