The legendary Elizabeth Taylor died on Wednesday. She was 79 years of age.

Dame Elizabeth Taylor has died.

The double Oscar-winning actress died in the early hours of Wednesday morning (23.03.11) aged 79, after battling congestive heart failure.

Taylor had been hospitalised two months ago at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she was treated for heart problems, and it was there she passed away.

Her son Michael Wilding released a statement, saying: 'My mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humour and love.

'Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world. Her remarkable body of work in film, her ongoing success as a businesswoman, and her brave and relentless advocacy in the fight against HIV and AIDS, all make us all incredibly proud of what she accomplished.

'We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place for mom having lived in it. Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts.'

The British-American star is acknowledged as one of the greatest actresses of Hollywood's 'Golden Age', starting her career aged 11 and appearing in classics such as 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof', 'The Last Time I Saw Paris' and 'Cleopatra', where she played the titular role of the Egyptian pharaoh.

Taylor won two Best Actress Oscars in the 1960s, for her roles in 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf' and 'Butterfield 8'.

A lover of the silver screen until her last days, Taylor reportedly spent her 79th birthday on February 27 watching the Oscars from her hospital bed.

The screen legend was just as famous for her colourful private life as she was for her glittering career and was wed eight times to seven different men - Conrad Hilton, Michael Wilding, Michael Todd, Eddie Fisher, Richard Burton, who she was divorced from twice, John Warner and Larry Fortensky - during her lifetime.

The wedding between 大S and 汪小菲 just occurred over the week. But there have been a lot of controversies. One of which is the release of her wedding photos on 搜狐网. These were posted by the CEO of 搜狐网 who was invited to the wedding as he was a friend of 汪小菲. But the press is apparently thought that the couple gave exclusive rights to 搜狐网 which invokes a lot of unhappiness.

台湾艺人大S(徐熙媛)与“富二代”汪小菲的婚礼22日在热闹结束，原本强调低调的两人，因婚礼全程被中国搜狐网直击，导致外界批评声浪不断。大S隔天发出20张婚照，还亲自接受媒体电话专访，她也对网友不看好她的婚姻，轻松表示不在意。

　　“大汪婚”的台湾亲友团23日晚包机返台，徐妈妈似乎满腹委屈，她一下飞机就哽咽地说：“熙媛的委屈，就是妈妈的委屈。我嫁女儿为什么要被大家批评成这样，她和小菲结婚一点都没有嚣张，两个年轻人这辈子赚的钱，就是想带给亲人享受，把快乐带给大家。”

　　徐妈妈用闽南语向台湾媒体致歉，表示整件事误会一场：“不好意思，歹势啦，没办法照顾媒体，最照顾她的就是台湾媒体，大家从小就照顾她，但有人要偷拍，高科技就是这样，防不慎防，感谢各位能体谅。”

　　这场世纪婚礼让大S背上“炫富”的臭名，小俩口原想办个低调温馨的婚礼，却因为老公、婆婆的好友张朝阳是搜狐网的CEO，在婚礼进行期间就将照片PO上网，立刻得罪现场所有其他媒体。

　　为平息众怒，婚礼期间派出亲友团小S、蔡康永、阿雅等人受访，蔡康永当众宣布大S将礼金全捐给日本灾民，引起网民激烈反弹，呛声：“赚中国人的钱，然后捐给日本，典型的卖国贼！”更有人建议干脆封杀大S。

大S受访时仍坚持自己原本想低调，不希望让人觉得在作秀，她再三强调绝对没有收搜狐网的钱：“这部分我态度很强硬，我问过老公、婆婆，他们都说绝对没有，我是更不可能，若是从亲友的微博抓下来的话我也没办法，倘若是卧底偷拍，未经过我同意，我会提出告诉。”

　　当记者提醒搜狐网CEO、伴郎张朝阳承认部分内容经过“主办方默许”播出，她大惊回应：“这么过分还挑衅！他不是伴郎，是来宾之一，毕竟他是老公亲友，某些事做得不够完善，我真的很不高兴他们这样子，这部分我会再跟老公讨论。”汪小菲受访时也表示很气搜狐网。

　　大S也否认张兰表示婚礼因仰赖赞助花费不高的说法，她说婚礼全是自掏腰包，所费不赀，但大S也替张兰澄清：“婆婆是以保护家人的态度来处理婚礼的事宜，我完全能够接受。”
