First up let’s visit the official Zhui Xing restaurant – Zhui Xing Café! Want to catch a glimpse of famous stars and celebrities? Here’s where to go! Well-known celebrities are often invited to grace special occasions. Not forgetting the celebrity cook – Jupiter! Customers can even get a rare chance to enjoy a meal with their favourite singers and artistes! However they leave the seat immediately after finishing their meal, so you’ve to be quick!
The exterior of the café just makes you drool. The hamburger and ice-cream replica, along with the neon drink sign, makes you tempted to enter the premises to try out its
Customers can choose to sit at either island of tables, each served by 3 cooks and a poor waitress trapped within. The one with sofas is the more comfortable of course, but it’s self-service since there is no enclosed waitress available. There is an unused fireplace awaiting Santa Claus to befall every Christmas, and an arcade machine which incoming customers can satisfy themselves temporarily if they were to mistake this café as an arcade centre.
The toilet is open for everyone to watch. Be brave and do it openly if you can’t hold your bladder. Big business is not encouraged as the unbearable odour will contaminate the nearby food. Up to 3 persons can sit on the adjacent toilet bowls and chit chat with each other, while doing their boring business. Remember to flush the toilet after use.
Let’s take a look at the menu. These 3 dish are specially chosen to suit the Zhui Xing members’ tastes. Salad for the herbivore Reiko, burger for the bread-lover Servbot and chocolate sundae for the ever-craving Jupiter. It will be better if Mango pudding is included in the menu too.
Next up let’s visit the oriental Eastern style ‘The Summer Inn’. With the hot weather all year round, this name is forever relevant. The air-con is switched off inside to give a summery feel. (and to cut costs)
The pair of lanterns gives a celebrative feel throughout the year, even when it’s not Lunar New Year. This is probably because the lanterns were hung too high on the roof and hard to remove. Please knock the heavy steel door with the attached handle before you enter. Alternatively, you can use Kungfu to kick the door open. Devotees can also burn joss sticks and perform their prayers at the pagoda situated at the side, if they wish to before or after the meals.
The reason why the interior and exterior deco don’t seem to match, is one of the greatest mystery of the inn. Having 2 contrasting Eastern and Western styles is seen to be a unique style on its own, as it promotes the idea of 中西合璧. The starry floor tile makes you feel like you are dining in the skies, but the aquarium makes you feel like being under the ocean. Once again, the stark contrast is utilized to emphasize the uniqueness of the inn. The tables are arranged in one big ring, where diners can observe the waitresses scurrying frantically around. This is conducive for icebreaker games between the customers.
The only Eastern-flavoured food, Yakibuta Ramen, looks tasty indeed! The pumpkin pie can pose off as a mooncake during the Mooncake festival, and the mushroom soup can be treated as yam paste (though it looks like some facial mud).
Unlike the other restaurants, The Mango Waltz gives a nice warm cosy home-sweet-home feel with its simple exterior design. If you enjoy dining under the warmth of the
Indeed, the interior space is also kept small to give the close-knitted feel. The room is so warm that even a giant cactus can grow well inside. The tables are arranged face to face to promote interaction between the diners. Those who cannot get along will be ostracized and banished to the 2-table group. A counselor will then sit at the chair that is not facing the table and have a hearty talk with the alienated ones. Those who just wish to tap the wireless connection in the restaurant can sit at the sofa. First come first served.
The exotic fruit skewers, which contains mango, is a must-try in Mango Waltz. Coupled with the creamy spaghetti carbonara and the chicken & leek soup, it makes a perfect meal with your family. It’s amazing how fruits can be prepared using a stove.
Last but not least, we’ve arrived at the Poison Rojak stall! Due to its popularity, a dedicated stall has been set up to satisfy customers who wish to poison themselves. More poison can be requested at no additional charge!
The dilapidated exterior is specially maintained to promote the growth of rats. Patrons can enjoy a drink or two under the hay shelter, but please be careful of insects dropping down. Monkeys are encouraged to join the animal kingdom too.
This is the biggest interior the restaurant can get. Its beach theme gives an ambience of dining by the sea. Please refrain from playing with the seawater and sand as it expensively imported. You wouldn’t want to eat salty or grainy food. Customers can enjoy the row of greenery along the river canal; unfortunately only artificial potted plants can be bought at the moment. Diners may fish if they wish, though the marine creatures are extremely polluted. A treasure island is located at the sea, for brave souls who wish to discover the secret hidden within. Please provide your own boat (or float).
These are the components of the rojak. A good mix of fruits, meat and curry to give customers an unforgettable poisonous experience.
That’s all for the gourmet special. Craving for the yummy food? By all means patronize these restaurants and give your support!
