Some time ago I heard this song over the radio and was mesmerized by it. The song was so comfortable to listen to and somehow reminded me of childhood times.
This is the song: ‘If We Hold On Together’ by Diana Ross. Some of you might have known this song, or at least heard before.
No wonder the tune sounds so familiar, it is actually the theme song for the popular animated movie in 1988, ‘The Land Before Time’. This movie was very well-received when it was released more than 20 years ago. I could slightly recall the hype then… when I was very very small.
The story is about an orphan Apatosaurus ‘Littlefoot’ whose mother was killed by a Tyrannosaurus. In his journey to search for an utopian paradise ‘Great Valley’, where dinosaurs could escape a coming draught, Littlefoot met four companions, who also lost their parents amidst the upheaval.
Being different dinosaur species, they experienced prejudices against each other while enduring the tough journey. As they encounter more obstacles along the way, they began to understand the importance of working together to survive, instead of focusing on differences.
This movie might be a reason why dinosaurs were so popular among youngsters in the early 90s. I had many books on dinosaurs then and this was when I started to know more about this extinct species.
Anyway back to the song, hope you all liked it too. =)
