Wondering how you could remove the little spare tyre at your tummy? Wondering how you could slim down to a perfect golden proportion? Most of us gain fats very easily but losing them can be a pain in the neck. Exercising has been proven to be the most effective active method of slimming down, on top of passive measures like controlling diet and getting adequate sleep. There are techniques to exercise effectively too, in order to make sure maximum fats are burnt for every workout session.
Diet would be the first thing in our minds whenever it comes to slimming down. It is widely known that high carbohydrate food like rice, noodles and bread contribute most to our fats, but they are also the most important in ensuring a healthy diet. After all they are at the base of the food pyramid. While cutting down on carbohydrates, it is crucial to stay balanced so your health will not be compromised. High-protein low-carbo intake may be the way to go.
Of course, fruits and vegetables can never be omitted. They play an important role in providing essential nutrients and vitamins. Meat is high in protein and often used to introduce variety to a meal, though it can never replace as a staple diet. Hence becoming a vegetarian is not necessarily the best method to slim down.
You don’t really have to spend much effort in trying to control your diet. Just remember to ‘eat only when you are hungry’, then ‘stop when you are full’, so as to avoid overeating. Try to eat slowly such that you could detect the ‘point of fullness’ before excess food enters your stomach. Obviously, fried and oily food is definitely out.
To slim down healthily and fast, exercising cannot be neglected. Many had wished they could lose fats just by cutting consumption without exercising. It is just as if they are trying to become rich by merely saving money and reducing expenditure.
Exercising is a fast way to burn fats, but just jogging at the nearby park everyday is not going to lose you much fats. You will only be losing mostly water through perspiring. There are myths that if you were to maintain running over 40 minutes, your body will start to burn stored fats rather than available carbohydrates, thus effectively reducing weight. However this is not really reliable. In fact the more you go for long runs, the more your body becomes accustomed to it as muscles develop. Gradually you will start to burn lesser fat for every distance run since your body becomes more efficient. This is how marathon runners train up their stamina.
So what should you do to overcome such fat-burning inefficiency? They key is, HIIT, which stands for High Intensity Interval Training. As the name suggests, HIIT is about highly physically intensive workouts over short intervals. During these short periods of time that may last about 10 seconds each, your body is worked to the maximum, expending the greatest energy possible. This is followed by longer rest times in between.
One good example of HIIT is sprinting. Spiriting for 10 seconds, then resting for 30 seconds, then spiriting again, is an efficient method to burn as much fats as possible within the shortest period. Such trainings do not require much time to carry out, unlike 1-hour slow jogs. The greater your heartbeat, the more fats it burns. It is like overclocking your CPU. However it can be really physically exhausting if you force your body to perform to the maximum. Endurance and consistency do pay off though.
Other examples of HIIT include sprinting up the stairs, doing weight training in the gym and even doing several pull ups consecutively. These exercises expend lots of energy within a short time and it is often preferred by busy people who cannot afford long jogs everyday. These are the workouts that can truly make you lose weight really quickly.
