It is confirmed that Singapore singer Stefanie Sun will be skipping Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards this year after having successfully conceived a Dragon baby.
On May 7, a day ahead of the couple's first wedding anniversary, the singer shared the good news of her pregnancy on her microblog and claimed that it is "the best anniversary gift" for the pair.
After announcing her pregnancy, the 33-year-old ceased all entertainment-related activities and made her way back to Singapore to get ready for childbirth. Despite everyone's anticipation to see a pregnant-looking Stefanie attending the awards ceremony, the singer decided to skip the show after making a trip to the doctor's.
Stefanie's manager expressed that although the soon-to-be mother wanted to attend the ceremony, she "had to forgo it as she is easily tired these days and worries that she will be overworked."
Stefanie reportedly rejected more than seven performance invites and will not be attending any events for the time being. It is speculated that the earliest that she can return to stage will be in 2013, after the estimated delivery date in November and a one-month long confinement period.
Her manager also revealed that both the child and mother are fine. She added that Stefanie has yet to go for an ultrasound scan to determine the gender of her baby and only "wishes for the baby to be healthy."

Taiwanese singer Christine Fan, who is married to Taiwanese host Blackie Chen, has revealed that she received "lucky sanitary pads" and childbirth tips from her friends.
All eyes are glued on the celebrity couple in hope that they will conceive a baby this year.
At a promotional event in Shanghai for her first micro film,Gravity Zero, Christine shared that she came down with gastroenteritis for two weeks during the filming. The singer-turned-actress shared that thinking about the pain she had to go through made her burst into tears within five seconds for the crying scenes, earning her praises from the director.
Christine revealed that she had been "rushed to get pregnant" by her friends. Taiwanese host Matilda Tao, who is a mother-of-two, shared her menu for childbirth as well as advising the singer to fatten up as "it will be easier to get pregnant."
The 36-year-old also let on that her pregnant friends also passed her "lucky sanitary pads," the unused sanitary pads that one still have after getting pregnant, in hope of passing their good luck to her.
However, Christine expressed that the couple has busy schedules that "even meeting [each other] at home is difficult," making it "difficult to even want to get pregnant."
In other related news, the singer also clarified the pregnancy rumours surrounding good friend, Barbie Hsu, claiming that "I have yet to hear anything from her and she's still very thin."
