Out of all the National Day Songs, I believe a lot of people still prefer "Home" sang by 陈洁仪 right? But on the coming Total Defence Day, you will here a new version of "Home" sang by 39 local singers including 孙燕姿, 蔡健雅, 林俊杰 and Olivia.

Those who adore 'Home', one of the National Day songs, will definitely look forward to its remake next year.

Most Singaporeans would be familiar with 'Home', a prominent tune previously sung by veteran singer Kit Chan. Come Total Defence Day, which falls on Feb 15, the song will have a new version. This remake features the vocals of 39 local singers, making it the first local song with the largest number of collaborators.

These 39 singers span across different generations, from 1960s to 2000s. Apart from Kit, the original singer of the song, other performers included local singers Stefanie Sun, JJ Lin, Tanya Chua, Olivia Ong, Maggie Teng, Rahimah Rahim, as well as music producers Wu Jia Ming and Lee Wei Song. Kit is also the executive producer for the music video.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean showed his support and encouragement yesterday, when he visited the set of the music video at the SAFTI Military Institute, where more than 10 singers were present.

Kit hopes that different generations of Singaporeans will be able to identify with this new version of 'Home' and for the country to stand united even after 2011.

In an interview with xinmsn, Kit revealed that the production took half-a-year of conceptualisation and preparation. Not only did the singer rope in singers whom she was friends with, Kit also turned up at each recording session.

When asked about her thoughts on the singers of today, Kit said: "Things get better with time. Their (new singers) debuts are now more eye-catching, unlike the past. We weren't that fashionable then. They also have very good production crew now."

Amongst these new singers, Kit complimented Olivia Ong and shared her take on this budding artiste.

"Olivia has good prerequisites; her vocals and her appearance are likeable. Her challenge now is to accumulate experience within these five years. It is important to do so, in order to mature and express herself better," she advised.

It is difficult to be a singer nowadays. There are many talented people all around and singing competitions provided a springboard for star-wannabes. There are few who can sustain their popularity. It is definitely not an easy task for Singaporean singers to break out of the local music scene.

When asked if she thought the market was saturated at the moment, Kit said that everywhere in the world was saturation because there were a number of things which distract people away from music. Therefore, an artiste must always remain prominent. However, the local songbird emphasised that being prominent did not mean that one had to act weirdly as sincerity is also a form of prominence.

"There had been many cycles since I joined the entertainment industry 17 years ago. It's good enough if people remember 10 out of the 100 albums you released. This is a cycle. This is reality," said Kit, who did not think that it was difficult for local newbies to make a breakthrough.

The singer added that with enough talent, the public will be able to remember the artiste for at least 10 years.

"I think we are doing well. Don't be too hard (on the singers)," Kit said.

The local songbird let on that she would be releasing her new album in January after a six-year hiatus.

In the Drama Category, it is the year of Western Productions.
3 out of the 4 acting awards were won by Western actors and actresses.
Glee is the big winner this year with 3 awards in their bags.
赵又廷 won his 2nd Newcomer award but this time in the movie category.

In the Music Category,
SHE finally won the Best Group award after being nominated for 4 consecutive years.
Their SHERO has even won the Zhui Xing Song of the Year Award. Hebe has beaten the competition and grabbed hold of the Best Female Singer Award and one spot in the Top 10 hits. SHE really still going strong wor.
But big winner have to go to 林俊杰. Award winner for Best Male Singer, Best Album and 2 and a quarter spot in the Top 10 Hits. A quarter becos 感动每一刻 sang by 4 singers. This song happened to be written by him btw. Haha.
Local singers did relatively well this year. Taking 4 and a half spot out of the Top 10 hits. Almost half. Well done guys.
This year also happen to be the year with the most 快歌 on the Top 10 hits. A total of 3.
